Tema is super friendly, approachable, thorough and a good listener. Tema's goal is make your gynaecology visits more accessible whether it is in person or online. She loves advocating for women regardless of the journey you have been through. Tema completed her medical and surgical training in Fiji but retrained in NZ and Australia over the last 13 years primarily focusing her goals on developing her skills in the fields of minimally invasive surgery, urogynaecology, treatment of endometriosis and pelvic pain. Tema has diverse skills not only in the field of gynaecology but obstetrics as well.
Tema's Extensive Experience and Contributions
In addition to her private practice, Tema holds various roles that demonstrate her commitment to healthcare, education, and community service. She is a public Staff Specialist at Mount Gambier District Hospital which Provides antenatal care, high-risk pregnancy management, and deliveries to women from diverse backgrounds
Education and Mentorship
She is also a Part-time tutor & lecturer for medical students in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology at Flinders Medical School. She is an Accredited AHPRA supervisor for unaccredited registrars through the International Medical Graduate Program which provides Mentorship to aspiring medical professionals. She is hoping to step up into the role of RANZCOG trainee supervisor for Mount Gambier by the end of the year.
Leadership and Community Service
Tema plays a key role as a Board Member for the Oceania Pacific Health Association for Australia. Her work across the country in advocacy and health literacy for women in areas of need is profound. She also plays a pivotal role in Leading the Australian, NZ-Fiji Endoscopy outreach project to the Pacific, promoting healthcare access and education in the region for regional specialists and women in Fiji and the Pacific. Tema's dedication to healthcare, education, and community service is truly inspiring, and her extensive experience makes her an exceptional healthcare provider and leader.
Tema's Personal Life and Interests
Outside of her professional pursuits, Tema prioritizes her family and personal well-being. She is an Avid gym-goer and advocate for strength-based training. She Believes in the importance of strength training for women's longevity and overall health. She is Currently conducting research on pelvic floor health and strength-based training across Australia. Tema's commitment to her family, personal fitness, and research pursuits showcases her dedication to living a balanced and fulfilling life.
